If you don’t already know, two of our current Chef’s Training students, Aylene Lambert and Alia Dalal, are among 8 finalists in Cooking Light’s Casting Call Contest to determine who will be “Healthy Cook of the Year.” Eligible contestants must be self-taught or professionally trained, but could not derive their current income from cooking.
Aylene and Alia each submitted a 3-minute video audition where they prepared, demonstrated and plated a healthy recipe according to Cooking Light’s contest criteria. Aylene prepared her Farm-Fresh Corn and Panzanella Salad, and Alia prepared Afghani-Style Squash with Curried Kale and Apples. They also had to write an essay outlining their culinary interest, background, and philosophy or approach to creative, healthy cooking.
Judges evaluated the videos on culinary skill, entertainment value and originality. Watch Alia and Aylene’s audition videos, and you’ll see how they met and exceeded these criteria and represented Natural Gourmet with confidence and flair.
